French Toast (Torrijas) Dulcesol

If you are looking for a fluffy and delicious breakfast, these French toasts Dulcesol with milk bread are the perfect choice.

INGREDIENTS FOR DULCESOL TORRIJAS

  • 6 milk breads Dulcesol
  • 500 ml whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Zest of 1 lemon (only the yellow part)
  • Honey to taste
  • Mild olive oil for frying
  • Sugar and cinnamon powder for sprinkling

PREPARATION

Steps to make the torrijas Dulcesol

  1. In a saucepan, heat the milk together with the 100 g of sugar, the cinnamon stick and the lemon peel.
  2. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves and the milk begins to boil.
  3. Remove from heat and let the mixture sit for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to fully infuse.
  4. Cut the milk buns Dulcesol in half if they are large, or leave them whole if they are small.
  5. Place them in a deep, wide bowl.
  6. Pour the infused milk (once it is lukewarm) over the milk breads.
  7. Let them soak up the milk for about 5-10 minutes. They should be well soaked but not falling apart.
  8. Beat the eggs in a large bowl.
  9. Carefully dip each soaked milk bread into the beaten egg, making sure to cover all surfaces.
  10. Heat plenty of mild olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  11. Fry the torrijas on both sides until golden and crispy.
  12. Place them on a plate with absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
  13. Mix sugar with cinnamon powder on a plate.
  14. Coat the hot French toast in this mixture so that it is well coated.
  15. Finally, pour a drizzle of honey over each torrija and add a little lemon zest to intensify the citrus flavor.
